Larry Patriquin is the author of four books; his most recent is Permanent Citizens’ Assemblies: A New Model for Public Deliberation (available on this website as an open-access PDF). He is also the editor of The Ellen Meiksins Wood Reader.
His research area is capitalism in theoretical and historical perspective, with an emphasis on egalitarianism, poverty, and the welfare state. He focuses mostly on Canada, the United States, and West Europe, ranging over time periods from 600 B.C. to the present day.
Larry combines an avid interest in social and political thought alongside detailed empirical research, with the aim of producing works for both scholarly and popular audiences. He recently began writing a book on the relationship between democracy and social rights, which he hopes to publish in 2022.
